"Ohio Agriculture: Keep a good thing growing™,"
a new public information project that aims to foster better understanding
among Ohioans about the economic and social impact of modern agriculture
on the state, will be unveiled by Ohio Governor Bob Taft and Ohio Agriculture
Director Fred L. Dailey during the Ohio State Fair with a new display
in the George V. Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center.
• – After a public kick-off event on August 7,
television consoles will play a continuous reel of two brand new,
15-second television advertisements geared towards helping Ohioans
better understand the importance of agriculture to the state’s
economy and social fabric. The commercials will be part of a three-month
TV advertising campaign to begin on August 26.
• – A ceiling-suspended display will show some
of the 200+ agricultural crops raised in Ohio, the diversity of farms
on which they are raised, and the farmers who work to make it all
happen.
• – A short documentary profiling
a day in the life of an Ohio farmer will run periodically on two large
television screens in the exhibit.
• – Fair visitors will learn to keep a good
thing growing by planting some seeds of their own. Customized seed
packets and children’s growth charts (each with basic information
about the project) will be available free of charge at the exhibit.
Also, visitors will be invited to register for drawings of Ohio Proud
gift baskets and other prizes. If you cannot attend the fair you can
be considered for the drawing by sending a postcard, postmarked by
August 15th, to Ohio Department of Agriculture "Keep a good thing
growing" Giveaway, 8995 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.
